Diana’s Dream Fiber Farm is the ‘dream’ of the shepherd who enjoyed the joys of farming, knitting and sewing as a child, and dreamed of it all coming together in a natural cycle. We’re located on Highway 63 just outside of Clayton, Wi on the shores of Lake Magnor. The flock grows from 20-25 during the winter to over 50 following lambing in April and May. Through over 30 years of breeding, the flock has diversified to produce a wonderful variety of fleece with unique characteristics of fiber and color. You can find the variety of color and softness of Shetlands along the luster and length of the BFL. Shearing time is a delight watching each fleece revealed as the shearer peels the wool locks free from the eager sheep. Lambs are born in April and early May, surprising us with their colors and features. A small group of angora rabbits and 3 alpaca supply luxurious fibers in a variety of colors. Always experimenting and learning, we use plants from the woods and gardens to dye fleece to accompany the natural color of our wool. From Japanese indigo to ‘nasty’ buckthorn colors appear. As a member of the Magnor Lake District Board, the farm works for best conservation and management practices partnering with neighboring organic farmers and Polk County experts. The shop on the farm is stocked with wooly products, many processed from Fibershed mills or handmade by the shepherd. St Croix Valley Spinners assist with shearing and have gatherings. A family friendly farm, visitors enjoy the animals and simple demonstrations, on the farm or at area events, even watching yarn spun right off the rabbit!
