Planting a Garden to Dye For

  • Textile Center 3000 University Avenue Southeast Minneapolis, MN, 55414 United States (map)

Dye plants are as varied as the colors they produce. While the roots of some will dye lovely reds, the leaves of others will create shades of blue. Some flowers will produce their bloom color and others will be completely different. Vegetables and herbs will produce lovely shades of greens. Berries dye differently depending on their age. We will approach the dye garden “from scratch” but will also show where these plants could fit into your existing garden. Then discuss what to harvest, when to harvest, and how to store the harvest.
