Sock Knitting - A Two Part Series

Join us for a two-part Sock knitting class!!

The class will go over the fundamentals/techniques of knitting socks;
casting on, gauge, magic loop vs. DPN, top down vs. toe up,
afterthought heel, reinforced heel, kitchener stitch, and differences
in socks with different weight yarns. The pattern is Wise Hilda’s
basic ribbed sock pattern found on Ravelry. The instructor will also give a list
of resources for different techniques in sock knitting.

Students who already know the basics, like how to cast on/off, knit, pearl, etc. can join this two-part series and learn how to knit their own socks.

Part 2 will be held on 2/6 from 1pm-2pm.

This class will be held online.

About the instructor: Janet Erie is a retired dentist, mother of 4, grandmother of 6. She
currently runs Knit one Yak too, a knitting and needle arts group in
Rochester MN. In the 70’s she worked as a yarn manager in a yarn shop
in Minneapolis, she was knitting before knitting was cool. She also
has designed a stocking pattern that can be found on Ravelry. She has
been doing some form of fiber arts for as long as she can remember,
knitting, sewing, spinning, crochet, embroidery, counted cross stitch
and needle felting. And she loves knitting SOCKS!
