Foraged Fibers was created out of a lifelong love of the fiber arts, gardening and getting out into nature. Britta Harris, owner of Foraged Fibers, specializes in naturally dyed yarn sources from domestic shepherds focused on sustainable and regenerative animal and land management. All of the dyes used in her home dye studio come from natural sources (plants, fungi and insects) much of which is locally sourced from her own dye garden, neighbors yards or local county forest.
Britta has been a lover of yarn since her grandmother taught her to knit in her early teens and having raised sheep on her family's hobby farm as a young girl she was always drawn to natural fibers. Throughout her college years Britta studied psychology and environmental science and while her professional career path has focused on psychology her heart and soul have always been those of one committed to enjoying and protecting our natural world. Combining her love of fiber arts with her passion for gardening and foraging in a way that shows the beauty that comes along with sustainably produced products feels like an almost magic combination and is one Britta loves sharing through local classes on natural dyeing.
