Beginning Spinning on a Drop Spindle
Learn the art of spinning with a drop spindle with Theresa (Get Bentz Farm & Badgerface Fiber Mill) and Amy (Nash Lake Fiber Farm). Theresa and Amy have many years of experience with spinning and teaching and love to share their knowledge with spinners of all ages and levels. Students will learn how to pre-draft fiber and prepare it for spinning, how to hold the fiber while spinning, and how to create a yarn. They will also discuss additional steps to spinning such as plying, and perfecting consistency with the spun yarn. This is a great opportunity to try your hand at spinning yarn! The class will be held at Nash Lake Fiber Farm, a beautiful spot to learn to spin while in the company of sheep.
Supplies will be available for students: $50
1 locally made drop spindle
4 oz of locally sourced and milled fiber for spinning
Learn to Spin on a Wheel
Learn the art of turning fiber into yarn on a spinning wheel with Theresa and Amy. Theresa and Amy have many years of experience with spinning and teaching, and love to share their knowledge with spinners of all ages and levels. During this class you will learn the basics of drafting, spinning, and finishing the handspun yarn. They will discuss a variety of techniques and basics of a wheel and its operation.
Students need to provide a spinning wheel that is in good working order.
