Introduction to Sock Mending (Online)

Learn how to darn those hole-y socks and bring them back to life! Darning is a fun, simple, and effective way to mend holes in knit material, such as socks. We will discuss why mending is important, tools that are helpful for darning, material selection, and will learn basic plain weave darning.

The online presentation will cover socks in Vesterheim's collection and include information about their construction, style, and mending.

Sock Knitting: Magic Loop - A Three Part Series

REGISTER BY: FRIDAY, MAY 13TH

This class series will teach a magic loop, 2-at-a-time technique for knitting up your own pair of socks! Join instructor Johnna Lush and fellow knitters to learn this sock knitting technique!

Students must be able to knit/purl and knit in the round.

Class 1: Sunday, May 15th, 2:30-4:30 pm
Learn to cast on your socks with the magic loop, 2-at-a-time method!

Class 2: Sunday, May 22, 2:30-4:30pm
Continue working on your socks and learn how to turn the heel.

Class 3: Sunday, May 29, 2:30-4:30pm
The final class will focus on casting on and knitting up a baby sock to get additional practice with the technique learned throughout the series.

Pattern will be provided. Students must provide their own supplies. A supply list will be emailed with confirmation of registration.

This class will be held in-person at Nash Lake Fiber Farm: 25545 Fairlawn Avenue, Webster, MN 55088. Maximum of 8 students.

Instructor Bio: Johnna Lush has been knitting since 2002 and teaching since 2011. She especially loves teaching stranded knitting, brioche and 2-at-a-time socks. Johnna has recently been entering knitting in the MN State Fair and has been awarded a ribbon each year including a blue ribbon last year for her brioche scarf. When not knitting Johnna loves learning to spin yarn and spending time in her NE Minneapolis neighborhood with her husband, friends and their wonderdog Marty (a rescue greyhound).
