Chippewa Valley Museum - Folk Arts Festival

Visit Three Rivers Fibershed and stewards at the Folk Arts Festival at the Chippewa Valley Museum in Eau Claire, WI.

Three Rivers Fibershed will have our information booth and Mending Bar set up throughout the event -

Mending Bar Details: Try out various mending techniques including darning and patching with projects and supplies that are made available free of charge. Or bring your own mending project and get instruction and advice on completing your mend and adding new life to your clothes and textiles! Supplies that will be provided include: wool yarn samples, fabric patches, thread, needles, scissors, mending instruction cards.

You can also learn how to spin with a drop spindle from TRF steward Beth Ivankovic of Priory Farms and learn other fiber arts including weaving, spinning, and needle felting from area artists.

Information on the Folk Arts Festival: Join us for a day of family friendly, folk arts demonstrations. You'll see practicing artists throughout the museum's exhibits all afternoon. There will be workshops/performances during the day for an even more immersive folk arts experience. Traditional fiber arts and folk life demonstrations and vendors will be featured, and visitors can enjoy Hmong/Hmoob cloth balls, wool spinning, weaving, wood turning, needle felting, mixed media creations, and more.
Admission: $10 Adults | $8 Seniors | $5 Students
Free for Children under 5 and CVM members

Introduction to Sock Mending (Online)

Learn how to darn those hole-y socks and bring them back to life! Darning is a fun, simple, and effective way to mend holes in knit material, such as socks. We will discuss why mending is important, tools that are helpful for darning, material selection, and will learn basic plain weave darning.

This is an online class being held via Zoom.

The UMN Worn Wear Tour is free and open to the public. Come join us to celebrate reuse and sustainability!
